Shillong, Jan. 6. Shillong: After being crowned the champions in the Subroto Cup in 2019, this time the Junior Boys of H Elias Memorial School open their academic year by becoming the champions of RFYS Football tournament held at Mumbai on the 5th January 2020.

All but one team from the East Zone swept through the finals of the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) 2019-2020 National Football Championships. H Elias Memorial took the game to tie-breakers against Goverment Oriental High School from Pallakad, Kerela.

However thanks to heroics from goalkeeper Wankit Mawphlang, the current Subroto Cup winners won the Junior Boys title 2-0 in the penalty shootout. The champions battled through their respective categories for five months which witnessed 1,20,000 young athletes competing in five categories of Sub Junior Boys, Junior Boys, Senior Boys, College Boys and school girls. The road to the national finals witnessed 6700 footbal games featuring 10,000 educational institutions from across 90 cities in the country. H Elias was awarded the champions trophy cum cash award.
